A Bit About Me

I remember the day I developed my love for music trivia…it was my 19th birthday at the Harewood Arms pub in Nanaimo B.C. My friends asked me which club I wanted to go to, and I said, ‘Ladies, I want a pitcher of beer and a burger. Let’s walk to the pub!’ and off we went. Little did we know that music trivia was playing that night… and little did I know it would change my life forever. Okay, that was a little dramatic, but it certainly added fun and an achievement that I never thought would occur.
I’ve never been the competitive type, but something about the game got me hooked. The hilarity of the hosts, the smell of pub in the air, and the tunes that triggered random dancing, laughter, and stories in between rounds, was altogether intoxicating to me…and not just because of the beer! After that night, me and my friends would walk to the pub every Wednesday night for beer, burgers, and music trivia. I can’t tell you how many hilarious events ensued. Looking back on old photos, music trivia nights made up the biggest collage of memories in my early 20’s.
One day, I decided it was time to try my hand at hosting myself and started doing music trivia for friends and family. No surprise to me, they enjoyed it, and it became an annual occurrence, sometimes twice a year. It brought us all together and gave everyone something fun to look forward to during a backyard (or in our case, a garage) BBQ. I also did a few music trivia events for my workplace at the time.
During the isolating times of covid, I was able to recreate trivia over Zoom, which was fantastic! I did this for family as well as work functions, and though it didn’t feel the same as in person, it was a way to bring people together at a time where we had to be at a distance.
Though both playing and hosting music trivia for friends and family has always been one of my favorite pastime activities, I have had a 12 year career in suicide prevention. I worked specifically in the crisis line sector, from being a responder to senior management. I am a certified Master ASIST (applied suicide intervention skills training) trainer, and discovered that my true personality shines when I am with the public, which led me to opening my own business in entertainment. This is a total 180, and a completely different territory for me, but I am excited to embark on the journey.
Music is a magical force that brings people together. Nothing brings me more joy than when I play a song and see people in the crowd randomly busting out in dance, singing along, or even sitting there with that look of bittersweet nostalgia, and you know they are thinking, ‘ah… this song… that takes me back somewhere.’
With that, my goal is to bring laughter, joy, and good tunes to your event, to add that little extra glimmer to your already memorable experience.

I am looking forward to meeting you!

Proud to be located in Nanaimo B.C., which is the unceded Territory of the Snuneymuxw people, and on whose traditional lands I live, work, and play.
